There can be nothing better, or more satisfying that a pumpkin carving. You can either carve through, or on, and it seems a tradition at this time of year.
In fact, it seems that carving ‘on’ is becoming more popular than through, perhaps because of the ability to deal with details, it lasting longer, and perhaps most importantly, no need to hollow it out!
I’ve dabbled in a bit myself, and this year’s ‘Masterpiece’ is here.
It was about 90mins work to get to this stage. i’m thinking about hollowing out (going all the way through) Death, and leaving the moon as a yellow background though. What’s people’s thoughts?
Also, here is an interesting pumpkin I saw last year.
Of course, pumpkin carving wouldn’t be possible without strong copyright exceptions, and expired terms. These are transformative uses of artwork, which means, under a copyright system desired by some, they would be criminal offenses and would lead to prosecution.
And that’s just plain crazy. Crazy lady all alone in a cottage in the woods with a black and white cat crazy….
But it is what people want.
